Barcelona: what’s on in November
0There are a few cities in the world that are so fabulous that you want to visit them again and again, no matter the time, the weather or the duration of the stay. You just want to be part of these cities, even if it is for a day. Barcelona is among these cities and its atmosphere captivates even those who are hard to surprise and fascinate. Spain is quite a warm country and the weather in November is not that bad as it is in the countries in Northern Europe. Even so, it is not hot, on the contrary it is chilly and warm clothes will come in handy.
Those who have been to Barcelona know that it is a very lively city that never stays the same. This is true for all months of the year and thus whenever you decide to visit the city, there will always be a festival to check out or a new exhibition to visit. This of course, is the case for November as well. The month starts with a Halloween Costume Party, which will take place at the Timeline Bar and has free entrance, however dressing up isobligatory. On the next evening, 1st November there will be a Halloween Festival at Row 14 night club, where the music shall be played by the English DJ and fan of house music John Digweed, and the French duo Technasia.
Among the happenings that are organised in the city during that month are the Festival International de Jazz de Barcelona, which lasts for one week and takes place in several of the large venues around the city. The jazz festival is attended by many international jazz musicians and for this year’s edition these will be the Neil Cowley Trio, the Pat Metheny Trio and Dave Holland and Pepe Habichuela.
On November 23rd will start the World Press Photo Exhibition, which will take place at the Contemporary Culture Centre of Barcelona and will be open every day except Monday. It will last until the middle of December. During the exhibition, visitors will be able to see various shots which have been displayed at more than 100 cities around the world. The photos will be presented in the categories current affairs, news, arts, sports, entertainment, nature and portraits.
A day later, on November 24th, will start the Yoga Marathon for Amnesty International Cataluña. During that event more than 50 yoga centres around the region of Cataluña will dedicate their practice to the struggle for the rights of children and women. The happening will especially focus on the children suffering in Nicaragua. The date is chosen as it also coincides with the Day for Stopping the Violence towards Women.
Whatever one decides to do and whichever event one decides to visit, Barcelona remains a great place for a holiday. It is a city full of energy and with a great atmosphere that makes you want to be part of it.
