Transportation in Madrid
You can get from Barajas Airport to central Madrid either by taxi or the metro system.
METRO
The Metro is the quickest and easiest method for getting around the city of Madrid. A one-ride metro ticket costs only 1.00 Euro, but it’s more advantageous to purchase a ticket for ten rides, which costs just 6.40 Euro. Metro tickets can also be used on the bus.
TAXI
Taxis are the most convenient method of transportation from Barajas Airport to central Madrid, with the journey taking about half an hour depending on traffic, and usually costs about 25 Euro. There’s a 5 Euro surcharge for all trips to and from the airport.
Traveling outside of Madrid
There are two primary railway stations which serve lines running out of Madrid to other regions, called Atocha and Charmartin. Coaches can provide a less expensive option, and are more frequent than trains.
